Spring and Easter activity ideas

According to meteorologists the spring months in the UK are March, April, and May. These spring months also see the celebration of St David’s Day, St Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter, St George’s Day and May Day.

Celebrating and learning about spring time can bring many bright, new activities and opportunities in Early Years settings.  

Gone are the cold, wet, windy days and lighter, brighter days are upon us. with the opportunity to get inspired and creative with gardening, whether it’s in an outdoor space or a simple window sill with some of the following activities:

  • Growing cress
  • Growing egg tray daffodils
  • Planting seeds

You can also explore all the new life that enters the world during the spring and learn about which animal families live birth and lay eggs.

You could celebrate Easter with some of the following activities:

  • Making Easter Egg cookies
  • Making Easter cards
  • Counting/sorting bunnies, Easter eggs, lambs, daffodils
  • Using a broccoli head to print blossom
  • Exploring life cycles of animals
  • Completing an Easter Scavenger hunt
  • Making wool/yarn birds nest
  • Decorating Easter egg printouts
  • Creating chocolate ‘birds nests’ out of cornflakes and chocolate
  • Creating cotton wool bunnies and lambs

And of course you can also stick to the traditional egg decorating and easter egg hunts!
